The City of Indio is the oldest City in the Coachella Valley. Celebrating 75 years of incorporation, the City has a rich and diverse history. Downtown Indio is adorned with about a dozen fabulous murals since the Chamber of Commerce launched the Historic Mural Project in 1996.

The  city of Coachella is no stranger to murals. There are nearly two dozen decorating various walls and buildings, thanks in large part to local artist Armando Lerma. Lerma has facilitated the creation of over 13 murals across the Pueblo Viejo neighborhood through his project, Coachella Walls, which he founded in 2014 to bring vibrancy to downtown.
